The works are occurring in order to allow utility installations and the resurfacing of the roads in and around the Bourne Place regeneration.
The work is being carried out in two stages.
The first stage will involve four weeks of work, beginning 4 May 2020, on the following roads:
St Michaels Road; Little Dover Street; Fountain Street
The second stage will involve two weeks of work, due to begin on 28 May 2020, on the following roads:
West Street; Station Street
The works require road closures, and therefore will be carried out overnight. The relevant roads will be closed between 20:00 and 05:00 during the works period.
Erith may also require weekend work, though the need for this will be reviewed based on progress and any weather delays.
Signed diversions will be in place notifying motorists of the closure times and which roads will be closed, as well as alternative routes.
Localised access will remain in place, and Erith contractors will assist where possible to minimise inconvenience to residents and motorists. The contractors will also notify emergency services, bus and taxi operators, HGV operators and SouthEastern among others.
The works will be sequenced as follows:
Road surface planning
Repair the kerb lines and adjust iron work
Footway planning and surfacing following utility installations from third party
Surface the roads
Whitelining
